National Theatre dell'opéra Comique
Founded during the reign of Louis XIV in 1714, the Opéra Comique is one of the oldest theaters and music halls in France. The theater’s floors are covered with scarlet red “Abetone” carpet that aids in acoustics and creates a strong visual impact. This Parisian theater is iconic for witnessing the creation of internationally renowned masterpieces such as Berlioz’s “La damnation de Faust,” Delibes’ “Lakmé,” Offenbach’s “Les contes d’Hoffmann,” Debussy’s “Pelléas et Mélisande,” and, most notably, the premieres of Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” and Massenet’s “Manon.”
